KAWANT EDUCATION SOCIETY

Kawant Education Society was established in 1986 by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It has been working in the fields of natural resource development, people’s rights, youth, education and livelihood promotion. The people we work, with the Adivasis of the Kawant area, have great wealth in the form of their natural and human resources but are impoverished because they are denied opportunities to use and develop this wealth. Therefore, we focus on helping people to understand their traditional strengths and to use these strengths to secure development on their terms. Our work area covers Kawant Taluka, which is in Chottaudepur District, Gujarat. It is one of the backward talukas in Gujarat.

કવાંટ એજ્યુકેશન સોસાયટીની સ્થાપના  ડોન બોસ્કો મંડળ (સલેસિયન)ના પુરોહિતો ધ્વારા 1986 માં કરવામાં આવી હતી. સંસ્થા પહેલેથી કુદરતી સંસાધન વિકાસ, લોકોના અધિકારો, યુવાનો, શિક્ષણ અને આજીવિકામાં વધારો થાય તેવા ક્ષેત્રોમાં કામ કરી રહી છે. કવાંટ વિસ્તારના આદિવાસીઓ સાથે જે કાર્ય થઈ રહ્યું છે તેમાં તેમની પાસે રહેલી કુદરતી અને માનવ સંસાધનોના સ્વરૂપમાં અઢળક સંપતિ છે પરંતુ તેઓ હજી પણ મુખ્ય પ્રવાહથી વંચિત છે કારણ કે તેઓને આ સંપતિનો ઉપયોગ કરવાની તકોથી વંચિત રાખવામાં આવે છે. તેથી સંસ્થા લોકોને તેમની પરંપરાગત શક્તિઓને સમજવામાં મદદ કરવા અને તેમની ઇચ્છાઓને માન આપી વિકાસ કરવા માટે તેમની શક્તિઓનો જ ઉપયોગ કરવા પર ધ્યાન કેન્દ્રિત છે. સંસ્થાનું કાર્યક્ષેત્ર કવાંટ તાલુકો છે જે ગુજરાતનાં છોટાઉદેપુર જિલ્લામાં આવેલ ગુજરાતનાં વંચિત તાલુકાઓમાં એક ગણાય છે.  

Community Organization

At present, the Kawant Centre is moving towards a more people-centered approach by encouraging them to come together to address their most immediate needs, water, roads, education and employment. The key to all of these is the correct functioning of the local self-government. The SHGs, (Self Help Groups) therefore, are now functioning as the starting point to preparing the community to claim their rights. They are leading their villages in preparing for and participating in their Gram Sabhas to plan development works in their village.

સામુદાયિક સંસ્થા 

હાલમાં, કવાંટ એજ્યુકેશન સોસાયટી, લોકોની તાત્કાલિક જરૂરીયાતો જેવી કે પાણી, રસ્તા, શિક્ષણ અને રોજગાર જેવી બાબતોને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને લોકોને એકત્રિત કરી પોતા સુંધી લાવવા માટે પ્રોત્સાહન પૂરું પાડે છે. આ બધાની ચાવી એટલે સ્થાનિક સ્વરાજ્યની યોગ્ય કામગીરી. માટે જ સ્વ સહાય જૂથો પ્રારંભિક બિંદુ તરીકે કાર્ય કરી રહ્યા છે અને સમુદાયને તેમના અધિકારોનો દાવો કરી રહ્યા છે. તેઓ ગામમાં વિકાસ કાર્યોનું આયોજન કરવા માટે ગ્રામસભામાં ભાગ લેવા માટે ગામનું અને ફળિયાનું નેતૃત્વ કરી રહ્યા છે.

Mission: Kawant Education Society, under the guidance of the Salesians of Don Bosco, is dedicated to fostering holistic development in the tribal communities of the Kawant taluka in Chottaudepur District, Gujarat. Our mission is to provide quality education, instil values, and promote sustainable livelihoods, thereby contributing to the upliftment of the tribal population.

મિશન: કવાંટ એજ્યુકેશન સોસાયટી, ડોન બોસ્કો મંડળ (સલેસિયન)ના માર્ગદર્શન હેઠળ, ગુજરાતનાં છોટાઉદેપુર જિલ્લામાં આવેલા કવાંટ તાલુકાના આદિવાસી સમુદાયોમાં સર્વગ્રાહી વિકાસને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવા માટે કટ્ટીબધ્ધ છે. સંસ્થાનો ધ્યેય ગુણવતાયુક્ત શિક્ષણ પ્રદાન કરવું, મૂલ્યોનું સિંચન કરવું, અને લાંબા ગાળાની આજીવિકાને પ્રોત્સાહન આપીને આદિવાસી લોકોના ઉત્થાનમાં યોગદાન આપવું. 

Objectives:

1. Educational Excellence: To run English and Gujarati medium schools from standard 6 to 10, ensuring a high standard of education that empowers students with knowledge, skills, and confidence.

2. Boarding Facilities: To provide a nurturing and secure environment through boarding facilities, fostering a sense of community and supporting the overall growth of students.

3. Community Development through DISHA: Through our DISHA Development initiative, engage with border villages by establishing and supporting Self Help Groups, implementing Village Education Programs, and facilitating livelihood opportunities to enhance community well-being.

4. Government Scheme Advocacy: Actively work towards ensuring the effective implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level, advocating for the rights and entitlements of tribal communities.

5. Sustainable Livelihoods: Implement programs that promote sustainable livelihoods, equipping individuals with skills and resources to enhance their economic independence and overall quality of life.

6. Cultural Preservation: Recognize and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the tribal communities, fostering a sense of pride and identity while integrating cultural elements into educational and developmental initiatives.

By embracing these objectives, Kawant Education Society aspires to create a positive impact on the lives of the tribal population, paving the way for a more empowered and self-reliant community.

ઉદ્દેશ્યો:

1. શૈક્ષણિક ગુણવત્તા: ધોરણ 6 થી 10 સુંધી અંગ્રેજી અને ગુજરાતી માધ્યમની શાળા થકી શિક્ષણના ઉચ્ચ ધોરણને સુનિશ્ચિત કરવા જ્ઞાન, કૌશલ્ય અને આત્મ વિશ્વાસ સાથે વિધાર્થીઓને સજ્જ કરવા. 

2. છાત્રાલય સુવિધાઓ: છાત્રાલય સુવિધા થકી બાળકોને પોષણ અને સુરક્ષિત વાતાવરણ પૂરું પાડવું, સમુદાયની ભાવનાને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવું અને વિધાર્થીઓના એકંદર વિકાસને ટેકો પૂરો પાડવો. 

3. "દિશા" સામાજિક પાંખ ધ્વારા સામુદાયિક વિકાસ: "દિશા" સામાજિક પાંખ થકી સ્વ સહાય જૂથોની રચના, ગ્રામીણ શિક્ષણ કાર્યક્રમો, અને સમુદાયની સુખાકારી વધારવા માટે આજીવિકાની તકો વિશેષ કરીને રાજ્યના સરહદી ગામોને જોડીને ઊભી કરવી. 

4. સરકારી યોજનાઓની હિમાયત: આદિવાસી સમુદાયોના અધિકારો અને હકકોની હિમાયત કરીને, પાયાના સ્તરે સરકારી યોજનાઓની અસરકારક અમલીકરણ કરાવવું. 

5. લાંબા   ગાળાની આજીવિકા: એવા કાર્યક્રમો કે જેમાં જીવનની એકંદર ગુણવત્તા વધારવા માટે કૌશલ્યો અને સંસાધનોથી સજ્જ કરવા કે જેથી લોકોને આર્થિક સ્વતંત્રતા અને લાંબા ગાળાની આજીવિકા મળી રહે. 

6. સંસ્કૃતિ સંરક્ષણ: આદિવાસી સમુદાયોના સમૃદ્ધ સાંસ્કૃતિક વારસાને ઓળખવા અને તેની ઉજવણી કરવી, શૈક્ષણિક અને વિકાસલક્ષી પહેલોમાં સાંસ્કૃતિક તત્વોને ભેગા કરતી વખતે ગૌરવ અને ઓળખની ભાવનાને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવું. 

આ ઉદ્દેશ્યોને સ્વીકારીને કવાંટ એજ્યુકેશન સોસાયટી વધુ સશક્ત અને આત્મનિર્ભર સમુદાય માટે રસ્તો ખુલ્લો કરીને આદિવાસી લોકોના જીવન પર સકારાત્મક અસર પેદા કરવાની ઈચ્છા ધરાવે છે.
